This post is about Sustainable Children’s Brands that are built to Last
The amazing list of fair trade, sustainable and ethical children’s brands is fairly long but we do have a few favorites that I would like to share with you today. I highly recommend saving these names for the future if needed. You can always search these brands in the many second-hand shops (digital and walk-in), as well as a bookmark to await the off-season sales that I love!
The first time the kid’s Hello Jackalo pants arrived, I knew we found a keeper. These pants and coveralls are made from the EXACT same material as my military coveralls. What does this mean? Welp – as someone who wore flight suits and coveralls every day for 7 years, it means they LAST.
Genius addition to the pants? A reinforced knee. No more holes in the pants when the kids fall (and they always fall, am I right?) so no need to constantly worry about this. Once you own a pair of Jackalo pants, you’ll be set.
They also have a longer length than most brands which allows them to last longer for wear – the boys have had their pants for over a year now and I see them lasting a solid two more years. When they grow out of them, I can use the second-hand option of sending them back and getting credit. How cool is this?!
Patagonia has to be one of my all-time top favorite sustainable, ethical, and innovative brands out there. I cannot even begin to express how much I cherish every single Patagonia item in our home: both second-hand and new (on sale, but still new haha). While on the pricier side, the amount is absolutely worth every single penny. These products will last for years and years, and you can trust that your hard-earned money is going to one of the best companies out there.
With a mission statement to “build the best product, cause no unnecessary harm, use business to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis” – Patagonia is a brand to take note of. Patagonia belongs to both the Sustainable Apparel Coalition and 1% For The Planet. They reject fast fashion by creating high-quality, long-lasting products and offer a repair and reuse program.
Back in 2005 Little Green Radicals began with the simple idea of making beautiful children’s clothing. But they believe, nothing is truly beautiful unless it is made the right way for all.
Because of this, all their clothes are made from organic and fairtrade cotton or recycled plastic bottles! Ensuring both the planet and people are looked after in the process!
I have been an Osh Kosh B’Gosh gal since as long as I can remember. This brand clothed me, my brother and all of our cousins and they were passed down from generation to gneration. It’s brands like Osh Kosh that parents looked out for: durable, super long-lasting and budget-friendly.
My sons wore second-hand Osh Kosh dungarees for their first two years of life until they spurted up about 3 inches and left me in despair. I had nothing left and started to frantically look for a replacement. I am so excited to let you all know that I found a brand just as amazing as Osh Kosh (maybe even better?!) that I have fallen head over heels for Britain’s Very Own Monty & Co.
These dungarees are so durable it’s unbelievable. My sons have put their blue and khaki dungarees through hell and they keep coming out looking brand new from the wash or simple spot cleans! I ordered 2 sizes bigger and simply roll the pants and tighten the top for it to fit right now. That is to say, these will have no problem lasting until they are 4 and then I will happily pass them down to their little cousins or friends!
Hands down, the softest sweatshirts my children own. These organic, fair trade and highly durable sweatshirts (and tees!) are perfect for any child’s closet. The Petit Tembo sweatshirts run a bit wide, so they are perfect to last much longer than regular-sized clothing!
100% organic cotton + sustainable + ethically made.
