Most of us grew up using nonstick pans without thinking twice about them. But, luckily, education on the matter is widespread, and folks are looking for safety over convenience.
The concern centers on PFAS, a group of synthetic chemicals used to create the slick surface in traditional nonstick cookware.
PTFE, commonly known as Teflon, falls into this category. Research has linked PFAS exposure to potential health risks, including hormone disruption and immune system effects.
At the same time, alternatives like stainless steel and cast iron require more technique and maintenance than many home cooks want. This leaves a gap.
